WASH... and Pray.
Updated: Mar 10, 2020
So the whole world is up in arms about Coronovirus, COVID-19; perhaps rightfully so. Quarantines, growing pressure on lawmakers to make decisions that protect the general public, and as of today world stock markets are crashing with investors bracing for economic fallout of the epidemic. Breathe with me and say “Too muuuuuuuuuch.”
I won’t claim to be a doctor or medical expert here, but I want to speak to those who name the name of Christ. May I remind you that you don’t live by the world’s standards? (Well... not entirely) According to Romans 13:2 you absolutely must obey the laws of the land. But you, me, we...... are governed by Kingdom principes. I know- it’s a busy crazy world so I’ll help you with a few reminders:
“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,”
Philippians 3:20 NIV
“If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.”
John 15:19 NIV
“They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.”
John 17:16 NIV
“A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.”
Psalms 91:7 NIV
So my message is short, sweet, and simple: Wash your hands.... and pray. Take the same precautions that you do to avoid the flu, and other things that are contagious, but what you cannot do is panic. Who’s your daddy? (That’s what I almost titled this post 🙂) Basically ... stop freaking out, and turn the news off for a while. I always say there is absolutely nothing wrong with being aware; just don’t be consumed with worry and fear.
By the way, Did you know that ”Fear not!” is the most repeated command in the Bible? I have not counted for myself, but have heard it said that it is mentioned 365 times. If that be true, then there is one “Fear not!” for every day of the year!! I think the Father said it to us so many times, because He knew what type of things we would face on this journey.
So let’s recap:
1. WASH YOUR HANDS.
2. BE CAREFUL OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS.
GREAT Monday to ya.
